An Internet user in China who made a death threat against Roger Federer apologizes and says that he wasn’t serious.
The user ‘Blue Cat Polytheistic Religion Founder 07’ wrote on baidu.com: “I’m terribly sorry. I was arguing with Federer fans and then I wrote something stupid … I hope that the organizers can understand me, forgive me, and if possible send my apologies to Federer and his family.” The user added that he/she hasn’t been arrested.
Before the tournament in Shanghai began, the user wrote, “On October 6, I plan to assassinate Federer for the purpose of tennis extermination.” After the threat was discovered, tournament organizers increased security around Federer. The Swiss called it “a distraction.”
