Ana Ivanovic celebrates her 23rd birthday by surviving Kimiko Date Krumm 7-5, 6-7, 6-2 to reach the finals of Bali. The Serbian will face Russian Alisa Kleybanova, who crushed wild card Daniela Hantuchova 6-3 6-1.
If former No. 1 Ivanovic wins the title, she’ll end the year in the top 20 after falling as far as No. 65 in the summer. Ivanovic and Kleybanova are tied at 3-3 in their career meetings and have already played four times this year. The 21-year-old Russian bested the Serbian at Fed Cup and at Roland Garros, but Ivanovic has won their last two meetings on hardcourts at Stanford and in Tokyo.
