Strength and conditioning trainer Scott Byrnes has returned to Ana Ivanovic’s team, the Serbian said in a statement. The Australian worked with Ivanovic between July 2006 and July 2009 and has since worked with Maria Sharapova, Vera Zvonareva and, most recently, Victoria Azarenka.

The 2008 Roland Garros champion parted ways with her physical trainer and childhood friend, Marija Lojanica, in March, and during Wimbledon she announced that she had hired Nigel Sears to be her coach, who stepped down as the head of women’s coaching for the Britain’s Lawn Tennis Association.

Ivanovic has complained this year that she lost too much muscle mass during the off-season and has been working on building up her strength. Burns was her trainer when she reached No. 1 in 2008.

"With the appointment of Nigel as my coach, and now Scott as my fitness trainer, I feel that I have a very good structure in place and I am feeling optimistic about the future," Ivanovic said.
