Jannik Sinner's incredible set streak at Masters 1000 events may have come to an end at the Rolex Monte Carlo Masters on Thursday, but his overall match winning streak at this level stayed very much alive.

And on Friday the Italian hit a big milestone in that streak—he's now won his last 20 matches in a row at Masters 1000 events, following a 6-3, 6-4 quarterfinal victory against Felix Auger-Aliassime.

With that, he adds his name to a very legendary list.

Sinner is just the fourth player ever to win 20 or more matches in a row at Masters 1000 events, since that level of tournament began in 1990, after the Big 3 of Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic.

Sinner’s current run is the longest Masters 1000 winning streak this decade and the seventh-longest in series history, trailing only four Djokovic streaks and one each from Federer and Nadal.

Carlos Alcaraz's longest Masters 1000 winning streak to date was 17 matches in a row, between Monte Carlo and Paris last year.

Jannik Sinner brushes off dropping second set to Tomas Machac | Monte Carlo Highlights

A day earlier, Sinner’s record set streak at Masters 1000 events was snapped at 37, after he dropped the middle set of his 6-1, 6-7 (3), 6-3 third-round victory against Czech Tomas Machac.

But he got right back on the horse on Friday with another straight-set victory over Auger-Aliassime, as he notched one break per set—in the sixth game of the first set and the seventh game of the second set—en route to his fifth consecutive head-to-head win over the Canadian.

Awaiting the No. 2-seeded Sinner in the semifinals in Monte Carlo will be No. 3-seeded Alexander Zverev, who survived a battle against Joao Fonseca in the first quarterfinal of the day, originally leading by a set and a break at 7-5, 3-1 but eventually closing out the Brazilian teenager after two hours and 40 minutes, 7-5, 6-7 (3), 6-3.

Sinner has beaten Zverev seven times in a row going into this one, including semifinal wins at the last two Masters 1000 events in Indian Wells and Miami, en route to winning both of those titles.
