Jannik Sinner has now reached at least the semifinals at all four Grand Slams in his career

World No. 1 Jannik Sinner has defeated Daniil Medvedev, 6-2, 1-6, 6-1, 6-4, to not only reach the semifinals of the US Open for the first time in his career, but to achieve a major first.

Having already been to at least the semifinals of the Australian Open, Roland Garros and Wimbledon, Sinner has now reached the semifinals of all four Grand Slam tournaments in his career.

The Italian, who was born in 2001, isn’t just the first man born in the 2000s to complete the career set of Grand Slam semifinals, he’s actually the first man born since 1990 to achieve the feat.

He's the fourth active man to do it, too.

Carlos Alcaraz might be next on the list—he could complete his set at the next Grand Slam event, the Australian Open, which is the only one of the four he's yet to reach the final four at.

Sinner was just a point away from reaching his first US Open semifinal two years ago, having held a match point against Carlos Alcaraz in the fourth set of their five-set epic, which the Spaniard ultimately won at 2:50am, 6-3, 6-7 (7), 6-7 (0), 7-5, 6-3.

But this time, other than a second set hiccup, Sinner was in complete control—outside of the second set he had more winners than unforced errors, 27 to 26, and he broke the former No. 1 a total of five times in the match to move safely through to the final four.

Up next for the No. 1-seeded Sinner in the semifinals will be the No. 25 seed, Jack Draper, who continued to storm through the draw with a 6-3, 7-5, 6-2 victory over the No. 10 seed, Alex de Minaur.

Draper actually won the pair’s only previous meeting in a pair of tie-breaks, 7-6 (6), 7-6 (2), on the grass of Queen’s Club in 2021.
