John Millman hoping to be seeded in January's Australian Open

John Millman's goals have been readjusted with his run to the quarterfinals at the US Open, which included a fourth-round win against Roger Federer.

The 29-year-old Australian is now aiming to be seeded at his home Grand Slam, the Australian Open. Ranked No. 55 coming into the US Open, he will be in the Top 40 next week and just a few spots away from being among the Top 32 seeds at a Grand Slam.

Millman fell to Novak Djokovic in three sets in the quarterfinals, but said the tournament was a good experience.

"I'll take a lot from it. I do feel as if I, you know, can compete at a high level," he said. "It's just sometimes my body, you know, hasn't been cooperating.

"It's those moments, you know, playing on center court at Ashe that makes all that toil worthwhile."

Millman hit the Top 60 before being sidelined by a second career surgery, and recently climbed back to a career-high ranking. He doesn't want to stop here, though.

"I cracked Top 50 for, like, a week a few weeks ago. I have always set goals," he said. "You know, I'd love to be seeded at one of these tournaments."

The momentum he will have from this week should also help him further.

"I definitely think I can build off this," he said.

Millman also came into the tournament with some injury concerns, having withdrawn from Cincinnati with back problems.
