Karolina Pliskova says she wants to show more positive emotion on court, which she sees helping her performance.

The 24-year-old Czech won the title at Brisbane and will reach No. 5 in the rankings following her victory. Though usually calm on court, she insists she does get fired up sometimes.

"You saw me excited,” she said. “It's not that I don't have any emotions. It's not like often, but it's still there.

“I think it's improving, because when I'm getting excited I'm playing better tennis," she told the media at Brisbane.

Pliskova, who withdrew from this week’s tournament in Sydney with a thigh injury, admitted her emotions can often be negative. "Yeah, but I get angry with myself. I'm trying not to show it that much, because it's obviously not helping to me and it's helping the opponent.

“So I'm just trying not to show it,” she added. “I'm getting more angry in the practice, actually. I just smash my racquet a few times."

But her recent run of good performances, including reaching the final of the 2016 U.S. Open, has allowed her to get more pumped up instead.

''Yeah, but the good emotions I want to show. I think I play better tennis when I'm in it, into the match," she said.

“Some matches…you have to have [a] good opponent, and the match has to be really, like, intense and I can get into it, and I'm playing better in these conditions."
