ST. PETERSBURG, Russia (AP) Mikhail Kukushkin of Kazakhstan ousted Janko Tipsarevic, and Illya Marchenko of Ukraine topped Benjamin Becker in the quarterfinals of the St. Petersburg Open on Friday.
Kukushkin defeated the third-seeded Serbian 7-5, 3-6, 6-4, while Marchenko beat Germany's Becker 6-4, 2-6, 6-2. Kukushkin and Marchenko both gained their second career semifinals.
Later, top-seeded Mikhail Youzhny was to play eighth-seeded Victor Hanescu of Romania and Russia's Dmitry Tursunov took on Alexandr Dolgopolov of Ukraine.
