NEW HAVEN, Conn.(AP) The Pilot Pen tennis tournament has awarded a wild-card entry to French Open champion Sevetlana Kuznetsova.
The tournament, which opens Sunday at the Connecticut Tennis Center at Yale, also granted a wild card Wednesday to American Meghann Shaughnessy.
They'll join a women's field that includes defending champion Caroline Wozniacki, Flavia Pennetta and Amelie Mauresmo.
The men's wild cards were awarded earlier to John Isner and Taylor Dent. They will play in a field that includes Gilles Simon, Tommy Robredo, David Ferrer and Mardy Fish.
The tournament is the final hardcourt tuneup before the U.S. Open.
