On Sunday, Petra Kvitova became the first WTA player to claim two titles by beating Anett Kontaveit in the final of Stuttgart, 6-3, 7-6 (2).

Kontaveit looked like she was going to force a third set as she surged ahead 3-1 in the second set, and managed to hold onto a 5-4 lead where she had two set points, but the tiebreak quickly went Kvitova's way.

"I just really had to push myself to play more aggressive and not really give her time to do her job," Kvitova said.

Kvitova was contesting her first Stuttgart final but her fourth of 2019, having won Sydney but losing in the Australian Open and Dubai finals. Her 2019 record improves to 24-6.

Stuttgart marks her fifth career title on clay, having won Madrid three times and Prague last year. Kvitova, who will rise to No. 2 come Monday, won't defend her title in Prague next week.
