Lukas Lacko and Michael Yani have tied the French Open record for most games played in a match with tiebreak sets, battling for 71 games before Lacko defeated Yani 4-6, 7-5(5), 7-6(4), 6-7(5), 12-10.
The four-hour, 56-minute match began on Sunday and was suspended at 8-8 in the fifth set before being completed on Monday.
"I’ve never gotten to a fifth set before, so, I mean, that was pretty cool -- I’m not going to lie -- to go that deep into a fifth," said Yani, who came through qualifying to play his first French Open.
