Lady in Red: Serena talks up Letterman

In a ruddy Victoria Beckham dress and Louboutin pumps, Serena Williams took to The Late Show with David Letterman and chatted up the host (like your resident Spin keeper, a Ball State University alum) about clinching her Golden Slam, grass versus hard courts, and playing tennis in designer dresses. In took all of 10 seconds for the conversation to descend to Letterman's innuendo-laden depths. See the clip here:

SEEING RED: Some sources raved about Serena's style, on down to her "life-giving" hair. And in truth, her personal style and the smartly tailored lines on that dress are an improvement even on her **2009 Letterman showing**. This lady in red recently opened up to The New York Times Magazine also, in a **piece** about her and sister Venus Williams. Highlights include the news that elders among the Jehovah's Witnesses church that the sisters belong to "reprimanded" Serena for her U.S. Open outburst. And in a shard of self-fulfilling prophecy, she firmly expects some sort of incident to come her way at this year's major tournament in New York City. It's true that Serena is a drama magnet, some of it her doing and some of it entirely not her fault, and so we will stay tuned.

AB FAB: On display now: Serena's abs. Certainly those are rivaled most closely by those of Andrea Petkovic, who possesses an **amazing washboard herself** and is gladly back in competition after a long outage **due to injuries**. For one, her German compatriot Angelique Kerber repeatedly told the press in Cincinnati this past week that she's eager to see her friend back on the court—and that she wholeheartedly believes that there's room for the two countrywomen among the WTA top 10.
