Petra Kvitova wins four 2011 WTA fan and media awards. The Wimbledon champion and world No. 2 was voted the Player of the Year, Most Improved Player, Breakthrough Player and was honored with the Karen Krantzcke Sportsmanship Award.
Sabine Lisicki won the Comeback Player of the Year award. After an injury-marred 2010, the German won two titles in 2011 and reached three other semifinals, including at Wimbledon. She rose to a career-high ranking of No. 15. Irina-Camelia Begu of Romania won the Newcomer of the Year award after rising from No. 214 to No.38. The No. 1 doubles team of Kveta Peschke and Katarina Srebotnik were named Doubles Team of the Year after winning a WTA-leading six titles, including Wimbledon.
Poland’s Agnieszka Radwanska was named Fan Favorite Singles Player; and Victoria Azarenka and Maria Kirilenko were named Fan Favorite Doubles Team. Francesca Schiavone won the Player Service Award, which recognizes the player who has done the most to support her fellow players through the WTA Players’ Council. The Porsche Tennis Grand Prix (Stuttgart) the Abierto Mexicano TELCEL (Acapulco) were named Tournaments of the Year.
