Former top 10 player Maggie Maleeva will play Fed Cup for Bulgaria next year, joining a team that will include Wimbledon semifinalist Tsvetana Pironkova. She plans to confine her participation to doubles play only.

Maleeva retired from the tour in 2005 but decided to participate in the Bulgarian national championships this fall, eventually winning the title.

"She is a big name in tennis," said Fed Cup captain Dora Rangelova. Her experience and routine will in all cases contribute to our good performance. The fact that she will participate would be an additional motivation to the other tennis players."
