Marco Trungelliti wrapped up his Roland Garros adventure with a beer following his second-round defeat at the French Open.
The 28-year-old Argentine became a tournament sensation by driving 10 hours from Barcelona to Paris to fill a spot in the draw vacated by Nick Kyrgios, and winning in the first round against Bernard Tomic the next day with just five hours of sleep. Though he fell in the second round to Marco Cecchinato, Trungelliti won 79,000 Euros and plenty of new fans.
"My grandmother had a beer when I finished the match," Trungelliti was quoted as telling press. "I also did, with her. Having a beer occasionally is fine, and you don't often get to have a beer with your grandmother."
Trungelliti had gone back to his Barcelona home following his defeat in the final round of French Open qualifying, and was just about to start a vacation with his brother, mother, and grandmother, who were visiting from Argentina.
