BUCHAREST, Romania(AP) Albert Montanes of Spain has won the BCR Open Romania, overcoming Juan Monaco of Argentina 7-6 (2), 7-6 (6).
Both players held serve throughout the first set Sunday before the fifth-seeded Montanes dominated the tiebreaker. Monaco then broke early in the second to take a 3-0 lead but fell and hurt his right leg when leading 5-2.
The Argentine struggled from then on as Montanes won the next three games before forcing the second tiebreaker.
It was Montanes' third career title and second this year, after winning in Estoril in May.
