Murray, Bouchard and Pironkova among French Open wild card recipients

This year's French Open wild cards include Andy Murray, Eugenie Bouchard and Tsvetana Pironkova, but Kim Clijsters was not among the names announced by the FFT.

Ranked No. 110, three-time Grand Slam champion Andy Murray just played his first Grand Slam singles event since hip surgery at the US Open, coming from two sets down in his first-round victory over Yoshihito Nishioka. The 33-year-old also reached the third round of the relocated Cincinnati tournament by defeating Alexander Zverev, who went on to contest his first major final at the US Open.

Bouchard is coming off a runner-up finish in Istanbul, winning six clay-court matches after advancing through the qualifying stage. Pironkova made a stunning run to the US Open quarterfinals, her first competitive event in more than three years.

But Clijsters, who is just three tour events into her second comeback from retirement, will not play the French Open. The 37-year-old, who has won four Grand Slam titles, has three children.

"I have decided to spend the next few weeks with my family," she said, adding that she would "soon" decide on her next event.

The other men's wildcards went to Eliot Benchetrit, Hugo Gaston, Quentin Halys, Antoine Hoang, Maxime Janvier, Harold Mayot, and Arthur Rinderknech. The other women's wildcards were Clara Burel, Elsa Jacquemot, Chloe Paquet, Pauline Parmentier, Diane Parry, and Harmony Tan.

The tournament also awarded qualifying wildcards.
