Andy Murray has confirmed that Kim Sears is pregnant with their first child.
"We are both extremely excited, happy and we feel lucky. But this is also private news," said Murray in Montreal, where he's playing the Masters 1000 event.
British newspapers broke the news a few days ago, with the baby said to be due in February. Murray and his longtime girlfriend Sears married five months ago.
There has also been media discussion about whether becoming a father will be a positive or negative for Murray's career, but the two-time Grand Slam champion pronounced he was unconcerned. "I'm not thinking what the impact will have on my career," the world No. 3 said.
