Andy Murray has officially received an Australian Open wild card, joining Thanasi Kokkinakis among the recipients of the second round of wildcards for the Grand Slam event.

Murray has also been granted a wild card into Delray Beach to start his season as he starts lining up his comeback schedule. The 33-year-old former No. 1 is a five-time finalist and an unsurprising wild card pick for the Australian Open, having fallen outside of the Top 100 as he returns from hip surgery and recent pelvic injuries.

Another wild card went to former No. 69 Australian Kokkinakis, who has not played on tour since 2019.

"I'm super happy and thankful to have gotten a wild card," said Kokkinakis, noting that he is "feeling great now" following mononucleosis and a number of injuries.

Seven of the eight wildcards in each of the men's and women's field have now been awarded, and they are:  Christopher O’Connell, Marc Polmans, Alex Bolt, Aleksandar Vukic, Sumit Nagal, Daria Gavrilova, Astra Sharma, Maddison Inglis, Lizette Cabrera, Arina Rodionova, Destanee Aiava and Wang Xiyu.

The usual American and French reciprocal wild cards are not being awarded, given the restricted competition created by the coronavirus pandemic. Qualifying wild cards have also been announced with the event held January 10-13 and the women competing in Dubai and the men in Doha.

Those wild cards went to Jason Kubler, Akira Santillan, Tristan Schoolkate, Rinky Hijikata, Dane Sweeny, Seone Mendez, Abbie Myers, Storm Sanders, Ivana Popovic, Olivia Gadecki, Charlotte Kempenars-Pocz and Alexandra Bozovic.
