Andy Murray says that longtime rival Andy Roddick is still a difficult opponent, even after the Scot pummeled the veteran American, 6-2, 6-2, in the quarterfinals of the Paris Masters 1000.
No. 15 Roddick has not won a title since Memphis in February and has only scored one Top 10 win this year, over David Ferrer at the U.S. Open. However, he has been beset by injuries and has recently been dealing with the death of longtime agent and friend Ken Meyerson.
"This year he didn't play as well as he has done in the past, but I think, even last year where he was still playing very, very good tennis," Murray told reporters. "He's had a few injuries over the last two years. I always found him a difficult guy to play against because he's one of the best competitors, he's been one of the best players of the last 10 years. He's a very good player who caused lots of guys problems for a long time so I never expect it to be easy. This year he just hasn't played his best tennis and I've been playing some of my best tennis as well so the combination of the two has probably helped me to a couple of good wins against him."
