While there are some who think that 21-year-old Dominic Thiem plays like the now-retired former No. 1 Andy Roddick, Andy Murray disagreed.

Murray, who beat Thiem in the quarterfinals in Miami in three sets, said the Austrian is impressive on clay, as well as hard courts, and more closely resembles Gaston Gaudio, who won the French Open in 2004.

Last year Thiem qualified for Barcelona and Madrid, reaching the fourth round of both. He's now ranked No. 52.

"I'm thinking he has more sort of clay courter's game in my opinion," Murray said. "Very long strokes. He's very strong guy... Like his backhand is different, but more like a Gaudio-type player maybe. I'm trying to think who he reminds me of. But very, very big game; very, very good mover. He has a lot of potential for sure."
