2014 Record: 6-8 (3rd in the West)

Owner: Lorne Abony

Key Additions: Alla Kudryavtseva
Key Losses: Vera Zvonareva
Returners: Andy Roddick
Coach: Rick Leach

The Aces were the new kids on the block during the 2014 season, and acquitted themselves well in their first Mylan World TeamTennis outing. Winning six of 14 regular season matches, Austin just missed out on the Western Conference Championships, and hope to build on their early momentum with a solid sophomore season.

Former No. 1 Andy Roddick will be on hand for the Aces’ first home game of the 2015 season; the part-owner’s Mylan WTT memories center around the Texas city and feels playing for Austin is a full circle moment.

“At 8 or 9 years old, it had to be somewhere around ’91, and it was the first time I saw Jimmy Connors play,” Roddick said, reminiscing on his first Mylan WTT experience.

“It was in San Antonio, and I was from the Austin Tennis Club, so it was a big thing for us so we all got to drive up and I got to see Connors and get an autograph, so it certainly made an impression on me when I was a young kid.”

Supporting Roddick in men’s singles is Teymuraz Gabashvili. The Russian has close ties to the 2003 US Open champion, and is excited to take advantage of all the innovations Mylan WTT has to offer in his roster debut.

“I am happy to play on the same team with such a huge name as Andy.

“I have experience with on-court coaching from Davis Cup, along with the cheering from the crowd like in team sports, so this is good,” Gabashvili said. “It gives you double energy, and helps you to play better.”

A potential mixed doubles partner for Gabashvili is compatriot Alla Kudryavtseva, who is also making her full-season debut -- though has experience as a Washington Kastles substitute in 2013.

“I’m excited about the line-up,” Kudryavtseva said. “It’s nice to have a countryman on the team, just so I feel a little more comfortable.”

Rounding out the Aces roster is a pair of Americans: Nicole Gibbs and Jarmere Jenkins. Gibbs is a former All-American at Stanford University and has been a Top 100 stalwart as she makes the transition onto the WTA Tour, while Jenkins made the finals of singles and doubles at the 2013 NCAA Championships -- winning the doubles event for University of Virginia.

Opening against the Boston Lobsters on July 13, Austin will have to hit the ground running if they hope to go one better than their 2014 season finish.
