Former Russian pro Anastasia Myskina, the unlikely 2004 French Open champion, says a lot of words in a new article about a range of subjects. For one, she heralds women's tennis as more interesting than the men's game ("It's more emotional and less predictable; it has more of a backstory"), chides current players for their lack of tactics and strategy on court (well, she is a retired Grand Slam champ), and weighs in on Maria Sharapova vs. Serena Williams.
The 31-year-old compatriot to Sharapova—herself once a pictorial darling in GQ magazine, when she appeared naked on the back of a horse but then sued over the images—thinks that Sharapova's best opportunity to beat her would-be rival Serena is to do it Down Under: "It would be interesting to see them face each other at the upcoming Australian Open. At the start of the season, Sharapova must have better chances of beating her."
Do you think Myskina's assessment is spot on or needs to be tweaked? Recall that Serena tuned Sharapova by a score of 6-1, 6-2 in the 2007 Australian Open final.
