FLASHBACK: Osaka wins fourth major at 2021 Aussie Open

"It has been a privilege to coach Naomi,'' started Wim Fissette's statement on Instagram, signaling that he was about to announce the end of his partnership with Naomi Osaka.

And it was all but confirmed when Fissette added he was "looking forward the the next chapter," and had enjoyed watching the 24-year-old "grow into the champion" she is.

They started working together in 2019 and won two Grand Slams, the 2020 US Open and 2021 Australian Open.

Osaka is next scheduled to play the WTA event at San Jose in two weeks. A four-time Grand Slam champion, she fell in the first round of the French Open and has since been sidelined with an ankle injury.

Fissette has also worked with several other top WTA players including fellow Belgian Kim Clijsters and Angelique Kerber.

Osaka, currently ranked No. 38, has not announced a new coach.
