New York WorldTeam Tennis teams merge

World TeamTennis franchises New York Buzz and New York Sportimes have merged. The team will play most of its matches in New York City and just two in Albany, where the Buzz were based. The new team will keep the Sportimes' nickname and play five home matches at Sportime Stadium at Randall’s Island in New York City, a $19 million facility that was opened in July of 2009 and is also home to the John McEnroe Tennis Academy.—Matthew Cronin
