Nick Kyrgios called his experience in Atlanta his best week "off the court in a long time.”

On the court, the Australian won his second career title at the ATP 250 tournament.

Kyrgios was coming off a defeat to 17-year-old wild card Denis Shapovalov in the first round in Toronto, which he described as the poorest defeat of his career.

"I wasn't in a good place at all," he said.

But he turned it around in Georgia, defeating three-time defending champion John Isner in the final. Kyrgios also contrasted it with his first title in Marseille, where he played at a high level the whole tournament and did not drop a set.

"This week was completely different," he said. "Some things just fell my way. Today, I found the right balance. I was competing and had some fun."

The wins only added to week-long enjoyment. A basketball fanatic, the 21-year-old got a tour of the NBA TV studio and appeared on its biggest program.

He had plenty of company down south.

"This week was so much fun," Kyrgios said. "I had my best friend here. I had my mom here.”

He also noted that some of his best friends on tour were in the draw at the BB&T Atlanta Open.

"It was probably the best week I've had off the court in a long time,” he said. “It's just rewarding that I played well."

With the title, Kyrgios moved up to No. 16 in the rankings.
