Japan’s Kei Nishikori says he doesn't want to think about becoming Asia’s highest-ranked male ever. The 22-year-old is currently ranked No. 26. Thailand's Paradorn Srichaphan became the highest-ranked Asian male ever when he reached No. 9 in 2003.
"I've been playing my best tennis of late but I do not want to put pressure on myself by thinking about rankings,” Nishikori told the New Straits Times. “It's a great honor to make history but to make more history, I need to be healthy and injury-free. My main goal is to defend my points in tournaments before the end of the year. I need to do well to finish in the Top 20 bracket. If I can do that, then I will look at setting higher goals next season."
