U.S. player Irina Falconi, who has reached the final of the Pan American Games and will play Puerto Rico’s Monica Puig for the gold medal, tells the AP that it is possible for her to reach No. 1 some day. "Why not?" the 21-year-old Falconi said.
Falconi is ranked No. 77 and upset Dominika Cibulkova at the U.S. Open. "By this time next year, if I'm Top 40 in the world, Top 50 in the world, it means we defended all of our points that we got this year," Falconi said. "It would be really impressive."
