Novak Djokovic attends Lionel Messi's final game for PSG, then reaches Roland Garros' final eight for 14th straight year

Another day, another incredible statistic for Novak Djokovic, who on Sunday defeated 94th-ranked Juan Pablo Varillas, 6-3, 6-2, 6-2. In doing so, the superb Serb reached the quarterfinals of Roland Garros for an incomparable 14th consecutive year, a streak unequaled by even Rafael Nadal.

Speaking of Nadal, Djokovic's win broke a terre battue tie with the King of Clay. Coming into this tournament, both 22-time Grand Slam champions had reached the quarterfinals of Roland Garros 16 times over their careers. Now, Djokovic pulls ahead with a 17th time in the elite huit.

Djokovic, of course, is also trying to pull ahead of Nadal with a 23rd major title.

Afterward, Tennis Channel's Jon Wertheim caught up with Djokovic. The conversation touched upon the match, of course. But it also went into other sports, given compatriot Nicola Jokic's success with the NBA championship-vying Denver Nuggets—and Lionel Messi, the global soccer icon whom Djokovic watched in person on Saturday.

"I always try to ask them how they go about their business, their preparation, their recovery," said Djokovic.
