Charles Bricker of the Sun-Sentinel is that rarity—a tennis writer (and avid player) who comes right out of the sportswriting mainstream (he also covers the NFL for his paper). He’s a take-no-prisoners, no-nonsense reporter (OK, Fellow Press Pariahs, some of his detailed questions do go on a bit . . .) who has a deep, broad knowledge of the game. In his column on Sunday, he went after the International Tennis Hall of Fame and scored some major points. I mostly agree with Charlie—one-Slam wonders like Jana Novotna and Yannick Noah do not belong in the Hall (my idea of a player on the bubble is Ilie Nastase, or Virginia Wade).
