Former US Open champion Manuel Orantes will be inducted to the International Tennis Hall of Fame this year. The Spaniard defeated top-seeded Jimmy Connors to capture the 1975 US Open on clay and also played a key role in Spain’s Davis Cup efforts. Orantes was also a runner up to Bjorn Borg at 1974 Roland Garros, and won 33 singles titles
Additional members of the Class of 2012 will be announced within the next month. Jennifer Capriati, Yevgeny Kafelnikov and Gustavo Kuerten have been nominated in the current players category.
