Roger Federer came to play on the 2016 Academy Awards red carpet. Guillermo Rodriguez fom JimmyKimmelLive! put a game Federer to the test with his patented tequila-shot treatment on the walk into the Oscars ceremony. Before appearing on the carpet, Fed also took to his timely, winky practice of tweeting a slew of emojis.

Greatness met greatness later, as Federer ran into Maria Sharapova and Benicio del Toro post-show.

Around the same time, and perhaps feeling the effects of his Fedquila shot, Roger and none other than Serena Williams got into a gusty little debate about who is, you know, the greatest of all time.

Separately, Serena and Sharapova graced the photographers' carpet at Vanity Fair's annual Oscar afterparty wearing dresses that the Spin will call "twinsome": fetching and quite similar. (Just don't expect them to pose together.)

Serena found friends Kerry Washington and Naomi Campbell for some celebratory snaps, as well.

What to say about the Oscars themselves? The telecast harbored no tennis references, as it so rarely does, but forgive us (or the world at large) for feeling a lot like frustrated Oracene Price when Sam Smith won for Best Original Song.

Fed, Serena and Maria: delightful. That song from “Spectre” that Smith warbled: dreadful. As they say in the movies, The End.
