Just when you thought the virus that causes endless xenophobic carping about foreign players taking over the game had run its course, Los Angeles Times columnist T.J. Simers demonstrates that there’s always room for one more to pile on. Actually, this column isn’t very funny or insightful, but it shows how many American sportswriters view tennis. The grand “I’m a knucklehead and darned proud of it!” tradition lives on. It may be our greatest weakness as well as our best asset, but not when it comes to tennis.
