VIENNA(AP) Tamira Paszek of Austria is being investigated by national anti-doping authorities after a medical treatment for a back injury allegedly violated doping regulations.
During Paszek's treatment earlier this month, blood was taken for enrichment and later injected, which is not allowed under international anti-doping rules.
Paszek said she was not aware that the treatment was possibly illegal until a reporter told her after an interview. Paszek alerted the Austrian anti-doping agency NADA, which confirmed Thursday that it was investigating.
The 59th-ranked Paszek has struggled with back problems since last season. She has not played a match since retiring in the first round of Wimbledon.
