Russia’s Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova, the youngest player left in the women’s draw at age 20, said that she believes she can upset Serena Williams in the quarterfinals of the U.S. Open. The Russian avenged her three-set defeat to Francesca Schiavone at Roland Garros by toppling the Italian in New York.
"Serena’s just awesome and a great athlete and she's showing so good tennis so far," she said. "I'm gonna say that I don't want to go out there and enjoy just being on the center court playing against Serena. I would like to do well, try to fight, and with my effort I try to beat her. But of course I respect her a lot, as well."
