Despite retiring from her opening match at Nurnberg with a leg injury, Andrea Petkovic is looking to be fit for the French Open.

Petkovic retired down 5-0 in the first set against Yulia Putinseva. She guessed it was a pulled muscle, but will undergo a medical examination. She is a defending semifinalist at the French Open.

The No. 10-ranked German said the injury happened in the first few games. “I ran for a drop shot, it stretched inside my thigh,” she said. “I just couldn't move normally any more.”

Petkovic was the top seed at the tournament.
