And Paire took advantage, beating the Spaniard, 7-6, 6-2.

Gilles Simon was the top seed, and he was heavily favored in his match against Pablo Carreno Busta.

But Carreno Busta played crisp tennis and pulled off the upset, 6-3, 6-4.

Next up for the Spaniard is Paire in the semifinals.

Simon only had two break opportunities, and he couldn't convert either one.
