Ranking Reaction: Wu Yibing soars from No. 97 to No. 58 after historic first ATP title in Dallas

One week ago, Wu Yibing made his Top 100 debut, rising from No. 112 to No. 97 after reaching the final of a Challenger in Cleveland.

Today, he blows that out of the water.

The 23-year-old jumps 39 spots this week, from No. 97 to No. 58, after his historic run to the title in Dallas, where he became the first man from China to capture a tour-level title in the Open Era.

“I made history here for my country and for my home,” Wu said after his nail-biting 6-7 (4), 7-6 (3), 7-6 (12) victory over John Isner in the final of the ATP 250 indoor event. “I’m very proud of myself and especially thanks to all the fans and my team who came here to support. I couldn’t do this without any of you guys.”

Wu is now the highest-ranked Chinese player in ATP rankings history, surpassing the previous record of No. 91, which was set by his countryman, Zhang Zhizhen, on last week’s ATP rankings.

Another massive mover on this week’s ATP rankings is Federico Coria, who surges from No. 67 to No. 49—his Top 50 debut—after reaching the final of the ATP 250 clay-court event in Cordoba.

With Guillermo Coria going as high as No. 3 in 2004, the Corias are just the third set of brothers since 2000 to both reach the Top 50.

Elsewhere on the ATP rankings, Taylor Fritz rises from No. 8 to No. 7, becoming the highest-ranked American man since 2011, and J.J. Wolf moves up from No. 43 to No. 39, his Top 40 debut. Both Fritz and Wolf made the semis in Dallas, falling to Wu and Isner.

On the WTA rankings, Beatriz Haddad Maia goes from No. 14 to a new high of No. 12 after reaching the semis in Abu Dhabi, while Liudmila Samsonova rises from No. 19 to No. 15, her Top 15 debut, after reaching the final there. They both fell to Belinda Bencic.

And Russia’s Anastasia Potapova breaks into the Top 40 for the first time after winning the WTA 250 indoor event in Linz, rising 11 spots from her previous career-high of No. 42 to No. 31 this week.
