Barbora Zahlavova Strycova and Regina Kulikova have broken the record for the longest women's grand Slam match in history, with Zahlavova Strycova defeating Kulikova 7-6(5), 6-7(10), 6-3 in four hours and 19 minutes.

The match surpasses the four hours and seven minutes it took for Virginie Buisson and Noelle Van Lottum to complete their match at the 1995 French Open, notes the WTA.

Zahlavova Strycova held seven match points in the second set, at which stage the match was hovering at the three-hour mark.

The longest women's match of all time is the six-hour, 31-minute contest between Vicki Nelson-Dunbar and Jean Hepner at Richmond in 1984, which had a 6-4, 7-6(11) scoreline.
