Nadia Petrova’s mother Nadezhda has died in a car crash, Russia’s Sport Express reported. (The tweet has since been taken down, but can be seen here.) Nadezhda Ilyina won a bronze medal at the 1976 Montreal Olympics in the 400-meter relay. She never coached her daughter in tennis, but helped in her fitness training and was by her side at a number of Grand Slam tournaments. She was 64 years old.
