Jack Draper is already laying the groundwork for his 2026 comeback—and according to reports, he’ll have a new voice in his corner when he returns to the tour.

The British No. 1 has appointed Jamie Delgado, who worked with Andy Murray for five years, as his new lead coach ahead of the 2026 season, according to The Times and BBC.

The move also means longtime coach James Trotman will step back from his full-time role in Draper’s camp, though he will continue to assist throughout the year. Trotman has guided Draper’s rise since 2021, helping him climb steadily up the ATP rankings and peaking at world No. 4.

Delgado is expected to travel with Draper for most of the season. As The TimesStuart Fraser reports, Trotman expressed a desire to spend less time on the road.

Draper, 23, is currently sidelined for the rest of 2025 due to a bone bruise in his left arm, an injury that forced him to withdraw from the US Open in September.

“Unfortunately, the injury to my arm is something I have to rest and means I’ll be sitting out the rest of 2025. It is very difficult for me to accept as I was building some incredible momentum this year and playing some great stuff,” Draper said on social media.

“I’ve been through this before and I always come back stronger as I’m so motivated to fulfill my potential as a player,” he added. “Huge thanks to everyone who backs me to do well and supports me on my journey. Can’t wait to get back out there and give it my all. See you soon!”

Delgado’s coaching résumé includes helping Murray capture the 2016 Wimbledon title—his third and final Grand Slam crown—and working with him until 2021. He later coached Grigor Dimitrov for three years before their split last month.

With Delgado’s addition, Draper now has three former Murray team members in his setup, including physio Shane Annun and fitness trainer Matt Little.

Draper’s 2025 campaign was a tale of two halves. The 23-year-old started strong in capturing his first ATP Masters 1000 title at Indian Wells and finishing runner-up in Madrid, along the way breaking into the Top 5 of the ATP rankings. But after a semifinal run at Queen’s Club, he appeared in only two more tournaments.

He fell to Marin Cilic in the second round of Wimbledon, before later being diagnosed with the bone bruise that sidelined him for months. Draper returned at the US Open, where he reached the semifinals in mixed doubles alongside Jessica Pegula and then won his opening singles match before being forced to withdraw.

Currently ranked No. 8, Draper is targeting a return to action in Australia in January and is scheduled to play the exhibition Ultimate Tennis Showdown (UTS) event at London’s Copper Box Arena from December 5–7.
