BASTAD, Sweden(AP) Tommy Robredo of Spain advanced to the second round of the Swedish Open after beating Michal Przysiezny in straight sets.

Fifth-seeded Robredo won 7-6 (3), 6-3 at the clay-court tournament on Tuesday.

Rain delayed the start of Robredo's tournament opener but it did not affect the two-time champion, who had seven aces.

Robredo will face Kazakhstan's Andrey Golubev, who cruised past Maximo Gonzalez of Argentina 6-3, 6-2.

Pablo Cuevas of Uruguay also advanced by beating sixth-seeded Paul-Henri Mathieu of France 7-6 (2), 7-6 (3).

Stephane Robert will face second-seeded Fernando Verdasco after defeating Jonathan Dasnieres De Veig 6-4, 6-1.

Also into the second round are Jarkko Nieminen, Andreas Seppi and Ervin Eleskovic.
