Roddick advances to Qatar semifinals

DOHA, Qatar(AP) Andy Roddick defeated unseeded Victor Hanescu of Romania 6-3, 6-2 Thursday to reach the semifinals of the Qatar Open.

Roddick, seeded fourth, needed just 27 minutes to take the first set and broke the Romanian twice in the second.

Roddick will face the winner of the later match between top-ranked Rafael Nadal of Spain and Gael Monfils of France.
