For the first time since October of 2002, Roger Federer is out of the Top 10 in the ATP tour rankings.

The 17-time Grand Slam champion, who’s suffered the most injury-plagued season of his career, has fallen to No. 16.

To put this into perspective, the last time Federer was outside the Top 10 he beat Zeljko Krajan, Tommy Robredo, Bohdan Ulihrach, Carlos Moya and Jiri Novak in Vienna. He won that tournament and moved up to No. 7, and stayed in the friendly confines of the Top 10 for the next 14 years.

Here’s a blast from the past to help you get through this Monday:

Doesn’t that make you yearn for the old days?

Federer, who hasn’t played since losing to Milos Raonic in five sets in the Wimbledon semifinals, decided to sit out the rest of the season in July to rehab from knee surgery. The 35-year-old began the year ranked third and went 21-7 in the shortened season. He didn’t win a title for the first time since 2000.

The seven-time Wimbledon champion appears determined to return to the tour with a vengeance in 2017. He’s been recovering and training, and has committed to play the Hopman Cup in January in advance of the Australian Open.

Andy Murray, Novak Djokovic, Stan Wawrinka, Raonic, Kei Nishikori, Gael Monfils, Marin Cilic, Rafael Nadal, Dominic Thiem and Tomas Berdych make up the current Top 10.

David Goffin, Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, Nick Kyrgios, Roberto Bautista Agut and Lucas Pouille are also ranked ahead of Federer.

With the Paris Masters in the books, only the ATP World Tour Finals and the Davis Cup final remain on the 2016 calendar.
