MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP)—The only two seeded players in action Monday at the U.S. National Indoor Tennis Championship have been ousted.

Fifth-seeded Marinko Matosevic of Australia lost 6-3, 6-2 to Jiri Vesely of the Czech Republic in an afternoon match. American Michael Russell then defeated Michal Przysiezny of Poland, the tournament's No. 7 seed, 3-6, 6-3, 6-1.

Vesely, ranked 81st in ATP singles, took 1:11 to defeat Matosevic, the 55th-ranked player.

Russell, who had lost his only previous match this year, dominated after dropping the first set. Przysiezny lost for the seventh time in eight matches this year.
