Dinara Safina confirms that she has parted ways with coach Zeljko Krajan but has refused to discuss the reasons for the split.
"After Madrid I took a decision to stop," she said. "Definitely he did the best job than everybody could make with me. He brought me to No. 1 in the world—I mean, not him, together we came together to No. 1.
But I decided that I wanted to stop, and that's it. I won't say anything," she added.
Safina is trying out Gaston Etlis at the suggestion of brother Marat Safin's former coach Hernan Gumy.
"After Madrid, Hernan Gumy was helping me a little bit. And he said like, 'Well, if you want to try, try with him,'" she said. "It's the first tournament. I mean, it's [his] fourth day here. So I don't know."
