Maria Sharapova may be seeing red since her meldonium-fueled suspension was handed down, but for one night, she was the Lady in Red. Radiant. Vivacious.

On the evening of May 2, she joined such luminaries as host Anna Wintour, Lady Gaga, Nick Jonas, Alicia Vikander, Idris Elba, Katy Perry, Madonna and more at the (deep breath now) "Manus x Machina: Fashion in an Age of Technology" Costume Institute Gala at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. For tweeting purposes, you know it as the Met Gala. Sharapova's satin slip gown by Colombian designer Juan Carlos Obando rendered her a resplendent. It takes a lot to upstage the red carpet itself in a similar shade, and she did just that.

You can find more photos from the Met Gala here. Serena’s buddy, Beyoncé, was in full-on latex by Givenchy, and Emma Stone, Billie-Jean-in-waiting—as well as tennis player-turned-Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue cover girl Hannah Davis—was pictured. Somehow, the 99-photos-strong New York Times photo album doesn't include Sharapova. Even so, in the midst of uncertainty, she cut a striking figure.

Caroline Wozniacki was also at the event, and she wasn't about to be outdone. Wearing a gown from Manhattan-based designer Prabal Gurung, Wozniacki joined Sharapova in the slits-for-days department.

Suffice it to say, Wozniacki gave great face. The 25-year-old Dane flat-out looked like a Hollywood ingenue.

So, between Sharapova and Wozniacki, who wore it better? Let's just say that each slayed on this night.
