Serena Williams appears to be disinclined to play mixed doubles at the upcoming London Olympics, which would open the door to the teams of Mike Bryan and Lisa Raymond, and Bob Bryan and Liezel Huber, to get the nod for the United States. Only two teams are allowed per nation. Wimbledon mixed champions Mike Bryan and Raymond have expressed a desire to play together, as has Huber with Bob Bryan. Serena has entertained thoughts of playing mixed with Andy Roddick, John Isner, or the Bryans. However, she is already committed to playing singles and doubles with her sister Venus. Playing mixed could potentially mean playing 15 matches in nine days.
"I definitely want to play singles and I really want to play doubles so I don’t know how three would work," Williams told TENNIS.com. "That could definitely be the answer to my problems so we’ll see."—Matt Cronin
