Serena vs. Tsitsipas; Coric golfs and hoops: the 2020 US Open bubble

The US Open is closed to the public this year, but thanks to social media, we're getting various looks at the bubble the tournament grounds have become. So far, reviews have been positive, with coaches and players praising the USTA for creating a relaxed, safe and fun environment during these unprecedented times.

Complete with a mini-golf course, soccer-style billiards, other socially distant diversions—and the entire Billie Jean King National Tennis Center to themselves—the players should do well to appreciate this once-in-a-lifetime type experience, as surreal as it may be.

For anyone who's been to Flushing Meadows for tennis, this video will be jarring—but like other sports that have returned, we'll get used to these new scenes:

Continuing tennis’ fun tradition of co-ed practices, Stefanos Tsitsipas and Serena Williams enjoyed a private hit on Arthur Ashe Stadium. And by the looks of it, Serena has no problem handling Tsitsipas’ intimidating first serve:

Instead of a crowded locker room, the US Open has provided seeded players with their own luxury suites normally afforded to well-heeled fans and corporate sponsors. The neighborhood pairing of Tsitsipas and Naomi Osaka has the makings of a social-media gold mine.

Though Cincinnati native J.J. Wolf won’t have the honor of competing in front of his hometown fans this year, he still managed to steal the show on opening day not only with his powerful first-strike game, but also with his incredible hair.

Wolf grew up an avid Andre Agassi fan, and channeled his inner rebel with full-blown mullet, complete with blonde highlights. It's not the first time Wolf has rocked the mullet, and it certainly won't be the last.
