Coco Gauff tried to let out her emotions in private following a 6-1, 6-2 quarterfinal defeat to Elina Svitolina on Tuesday at the Australian Open.

While the No. 3 seed found her way to an empty space behind closed doors, cameras nevertheless still captured her smashing a racquet.

“Maybe some conversations can be had, because I feel like at this tournament the only private place we have is the locker room,” she would later express in a press conference.

Gauff’s idol, Serena Williams, fully backed her outlet of choice for releasing frustration. After Serena’s husband Alexis Ohanian posted, “Media are gonna spin this private moment for a headline to get some clicks, but Coco did nothing wrong here,” the 23-time major winner soon joined the conversation.

“Well said. @alexisohanian. Passion. Caring. Matters. Nothing wrong with hating to lose,” wrote Williams on X.

And that wasn’t all. For the icon extended a special offer to her 21-year-old countrywoman.

“Now Coco when you want, I can show you how to demolish in one swipe… Serena style.”

Gauff responded with hearts and tears of joy emojis.

The women’s semifinals headline Thursday’s action at Melbourne Park. Svitolina meets two-time champion Aryna Sabalenka at 3:30 a.m. ET, before Jessica Pegula seeks a second major final appearance against former Wimbledon champion Elena Rybakina.
